John Doble

John Doble was born, raised and spent much of his life at the family farm just east of Sunderland.

In the 1960s John served as Councillor and Deputy-Reeve of the old Township of Brock and returned to municipal politics in 1988 when he was elected Regional Councillor for Brock Township. For 15 years during the 1970s and 1980s, John Doble was the Clerk-Treasurer for the Township of Mariposa.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, John served on the Sunderland Historical Society, working to preserve the history of the various families, and businesses that had contributed to the south Brock Township community.

John enjoyed music, especially polkas, big bands and gospel quartets; and played and sang in local old-time music ensembles. He supported the Sunderland Music Festival and encouraged each of his children to actively pursue musical studies. A baseball fan, John faithfully followed the Toronto Blue Jays.

Quiet-spoken about his Christian faith; John chose to model it through integrity, love, and acts of kindness to others.
